Protect your net worth from the threat of liability lawsuits
As your wealth and income increase, your attractiveness as a target for lawsuits may also increase. Legal settlements for serious injury or significant property damage can exceed the liability limits of your Home or Auto policies. Your home, your property, your savings and investments, and even your future income could be at risk.
For that reason, our Umbrella policy serves as an essential component of the ACE Platinum Portfolio program. It offers from $1 million up to $100 million in additional liability coverage. The coverage extends to a number of areas, including:
- Bodily and personal injury. Besides liability for medical costs, Umbrella coverage includes protection against liability for false arrest, libel, slander, invasion of privacy and other damages representing personal injury.
- Worldwide coverage. Some aspects of Home and Auto coverage may not extend throughout the world. Umbrella coverage fills those gaps and provides coverage from the first dollar.
- Non-profit volunteer work. When you serve as a volunteer director or board member of a non-profit organization, such as a co-op association, you may potentially be held personally responsible for the activities of the organization. Our Umbrella policy is designed to protect you against liability in such situations.
- Legal defense. Once the resources of your underlying coverages are exhausted, we will coordinate and pay for your legal defense against lawsuits involving property, bodily injury, and personal injury claims.
- Court costs. In addition to the settlement to an insured party, you will be covered for potentially substantial court costs and fees associated with the defense of your case.
The Umbrella policy is sold only in conjunction with both the Home/Condo and Auto policies. To learn more, please contact one of the independent agents or brokers that represent us. Click on Find an Agent to locate one near you.
